The Alternative
Education program at Tewksbury provides an out
of district option for non-classified students. The
smaller setting and alternate location offers a fresh
start to students motivated to turn their educational
experience around. Special
Education programs at Tewksbury provide an individualized
educational experience for classified students with
emotional, cognitive or multiple handicaps.
Winter 2007 Notes Dear
Parents,
As we close the first marking period and enter the
Holiday Season, I would like to take this opportunity
to commend our entire learning community.
So far this year, I have observed more exceptional
teaching and student learning than ever before. Indeed,
we at the ESC are "challenging the conventional and
doing the impossible" every single day.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind
us all that with the Holidays approaching, many students
tend to put their academic work on the back burner,
and grades begin to slip. Attendance begins to decline
and students' behaviors tend to increase. So many
of our students have enough challenges without the
process of credit restoration looming over their heads.
So remind them to wake up and make it to school.
Please let your child know that every single day counts.
Also share with them the importance of completing
all their assignments to the best of his or her ability
and that putting extra effort into projects goes a
long way. By asking the questions and talking to them,
it lets them know how much you are invested in the
learning process.
Let us all sustain the positive educational momentum
that we have worked so hard to establish, and each
and every one of us will benefit.

of Education when I say we look forward to working
with you and your families in the 2008 calendar year.

Nurses Corner
As flu season approaches, I would like to remind parents
that the first line of defense in fighting off these
kinds of illnesses is simply good, frequent hand washing.
Please talk to your students about this important
practice. Please do not send your children to school
if they are feeling ill with flu-like symptoms, especially
if they have a temperature. The rule to follow is
that one's temperature must be below 100 degrees for
24 hours without the use of medication.
Let's hope for an uneventful flu season this year.
