Notes from the 2007
Hunterdon County
Teen Arts Festival Readington Middle School hosted
a fantastic evening of musical performances. Over
70 solo/small ensemble vocal and instrumental groups
played in 5 rooms at RMS. RMS large choir and orchestra
played in the cafeteria so they could still attend
their 8th grade field trip during the scheduled
festival dates.
The next evening at JP Case Middle School, an additional
100 student performances were held. Vocal and instrumental
students participated from Round Valley Middle School
as they were unable to perform the night before
due to scheduling conflicts. Dance and piano students
rounded out the evening performances. An incredibly
talented group of student performers took advantage
of the facility at JP Case MS. The baby grand piano
provided a touch of professionalism that we have
not seen before in Teen Arts. The theatre provided
not only an awesome venue for the dancers but also
a safe one that met the dancers changing and sound
system needs.
Over 40 workshops were planned for the festival
days at South County Fairgrounds. The festival was
cosponsored by the HC Parks and Recreation Department.
It was funded by many of the school districts in
Hunterdon County and in part through grants from
the Hunterdon County Heritage and Cultural Commission.
Many of the artists and adjudicators participating
in this years' festival had impressive resumes and
provided students master classes and professional
feedback.
A huge thank you
to Joanne Bunce and South Hunterdon High School,
Hillary Mucino and DARK vocal performers from Hunterdon
central and Will Magillio at Hunterdon central for
Fiddle Club from Hunterdon Central for outstanding
performances at Spring School Boards Dinner and
Teacher of the Year Luncheon
