Adult basic education-(ABE) is offered to those adults
whose academic skills are below the eighth (8th) grade
level. The courses provided stress Reading, Math,
English and coping skills. The classes are FREE and
enrollment is YEAR-ROUND.
ABE provides classes to prepare students for the Tests
of General Educational Development (GED) and to learn
English as a Second Language (ESL).
Classes are held in five sites throughout Hunterdon
and Somerset Counties including the Hunterdon County
and Somerset County Jails. Both daytime and evening
classes are available.
Over 500 students participate in these programs throughout
the year. The ABE program is staffed by 12 certified
teachers, and a Program Coordinator
