ESC
Schools- Spring 2008
Spring has sprung at the ESC Schools. This is evident
by the arrival of our newest ESC members, baby chicks.
The ESC School at West Amwell and specifically one
of our special education classes are the proud parents
of chicks as they have hatched in the incubator. Students
have been drawing pictures, writing daily logs and
keeping observations as the eggs hatch into chicks.
Other spring activities include the students at ESC
Academy at Tewksbury and the outdoors program. Students
have been visiting area parks and utilizing the beautiful
recreation areas within Hunterdon and Warren Counties
to expand their physical education requirements. The
special education students are working with the Hunterdon
County arboretum while the Alternative program has
resumed work with the Tewksbury Township Public Works
on trail maintenance and park clean up. Superintendent
Dennis Cox has been working with the alternative program
in their successful indoor growing season. The plants
under the grow lights are flourishing and we expect
to plant in mid-May. What other school district has
the Superintendent teaching lessons and getting hands-on
with students in this manner? The students at ESC
are fortunate to have Superintendent Cox's experience
and wealth of knowledge regarding planting and gardening
available to them.
ESC School at West Amwell REBEL group attended the
annual REBEL conference held in Jamesburg. The students
interacted and participated well in workshops. Students
just ordered their t-shirts for this school year and
will host end of the year activities to warn others
of the dangers of smoking.
